For many of us, when we think of summer, we dream about getting out in the sun and getting that gorgeous, tanned and radiant skin. However, staying out of the sun to reduce the risk of sunburn and damaging their skin should be our top priority. At home tanning options have gained popularity over the past few years but we believe that nothing compares to a salon quality Spray Tan for an even application and perfect, summer ready skin.
Below, our beauty therapists at Saltair Day Spa Port Melbourne, Saltair Spa & Skin Clinic Caroline Springs and Saltair Health Spa & Skin Clinic Torquay answer some Spray Tanning frequently asked questions!
-
How many days prior to my Spray Tan should I exfoliate?
You are highly encouraged to exfoliate the night before your spray tan with an exfoliating mitt or an oil-free exfoliating body product as any products that contains oil will result in an uneven tan. This also means that it’s advised to not moisturise your body or apply deodorants before your spray tan.
-
How soon can I wash off my tan?
As there are various tan options to best match your colour and development time preference,
you should wash your Spray Tan off at the time recommended by your Beauty Therapist to get the best colour outcome. It is also highly recommended that you don’t use any harsh body products to remove your Spray Tan on the first shower, just have a quick and light rinse. Then make sure you’re applying body moisturisers and/or tan extenders to get the best life out of your tan.
-
Can I get a massage directly before my spray tan?
Due to the oil content, it is not suggested to have a massage before a tan as the oil will act as a barrier, preventing the Spray Tan solution from absorbing into the skin, instead creating a patchy, uneven and potentially ineffective Spray Tan.
-
Can I get an exfoliation and tan package?
We have an Exfoliation and Spray Tan package available to our guests that uses a cream-based body exfoliator, followed by an oil free body wash to remove the remaining residue from the body during your private shower. This is highly recommended to ensure that all areas of the body are thoroughly exfoliated so that your Spray Tan will have the best possible results.
-
How do I make my tan last?
In order to get the most out of your spray tan, make sure that you’ve prepped the skin beforehand by exfoliating. Then ensure that you’re regularly moisturising after every shower with hydrating products to prevent the skin from drying out and the tan fading away earlier than it should. To get the longest results, we recommend a tan extending body product to assist maintaining the glow with a gradual and even fade.
